Project Overview

This project involved providing planning-stage engineering support for a new residential development, where a coordinated and technically robust engineering package was required to accompany the planning submission. The work centred on developing the site’s highways layout and access arrangements, ensuring safe and compliant connections to the surrounding network.

Alongside this, we prepared a full drainage strategy that responded to site constraints and planning policy, and we established a finished floor levels strategy that balanced flood risk, drainage performance, and practical buildability. The combined package formed a clear and comprehensive technical basis for the planning application.

Key outputs

Our contribution included the preparation of a complete engineering pack covering highways design, access proposals, drainage strategy, and finished floor levels. Each component was supported by the necessary drawings, calculations, and technical justification to demonstrate compliance with local and national standards. The package provided the planning authority with a coherent and well‑coordinated set of engineering proposals that clearly articulated how the site could be safely accessed, effectively drained, and delivered in a practical and resilient manner.

Value added

By bringing the highways, drainage, and levels elements together into a single integrated submission, we helped streamline the planning process and reduce the risk of technical queries or delays. The clarity of the engineering proposals strengthened the overall planning case, giving the client confidence that key infrastructure considerations had been addressed from the outset. Our approach ensured that the development was presented as both feasible and well‑designed, supporting a smoother path through the planning stages.
