Grove Chase, Wiltshire
Project Overview
We were appointed on an inherited scheme to support a plot substitution application. Since the original approval, drainage requirements had changed, necessitating a full reassessment of the surface water strategy.
With the site layout already tightly constrained, the challenge was to accommodate additional attenuation storage while maintaining developable area and protecting the client’s planning objectives.
Key outputs
We undertook a comprehensive review of the approved drainage design and updated hydraulic calculations to reflect the revised regulatory requirements. Working within the constraints of an established layout, we re-engineered the drainage strategy to incorporate additional on-site storage without compromising highways alignment, finished floor levels, or plot efficiency.
Through coordinated design adjustments and careful spatial planning, we delivered a revised infrastructure solution suitable for submission as part of the plot substitution application.
Value added
By proactively responding to the change in drainage requirements, we prevented potential planning delay and safeguarded the viability of the amended scheme. Our ability to integrate additional storage within a constrained layout protected development yield and avoided the need for significant redesign.
The result was a compliant, deliverable solution that maintained momentum on the application while managing technical risk and preserving commercial value.
